RATES AND OTHER POLICIES
RATES AND OTHER POLICIES
Griffin Mediation charges for the Mediator’s time at the rates listed below. Unless otherwise agreed by the parties, each participating side will be billed equally. The Mediator is entitled to compensation for all time spent on the matter, including preparation time, telephone conferences, email correspondence, attendance at the Mediation Conference, any follow-up conferences (whether in person or by telephone), assistance with the preparation of any agreements by the parties, and any reporting by the Mediator to counsel or the court.
Mr. Griffin’s Hourly Rates and Minimum Fees
- $280 per hour per party ($560 total) for two-party disputes;
- $250 per hour per party for three-party disputes; and
- $230 per hour per party for cases involving four or more party disputes
For half-day Mediations, a minimum fee of 4 hours will be charged (3 hours in lieu of the Mediation Conference and 1 hour in lieu of preparation and reporting).
For full-day Mediations, a minimum fee of 8 hours will be charged (6 hours in lieu of the Mediation Conference and 2 hours in lieu of preparation and reporting).
Travel Charges
Mr. Griffin does not charge for travel time for Mediation Conferences conducted in the following Florida counties: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Manatee, and Sarasota. Time for travel to other locations will be billed at one-half the regular hourly rate unless other arrangements are made in advance.
Cancellation Policy
Please note that we accept engagements to the exclusion of scheduling other work for the day and time we have reserved for your Mediation. In the event of cancellation or rescheduling, we require email notice at least 15 calendar days before the Mediation Conference. Without such notification, the following cancellation/scheduling fees will apply:
$1,120 for a half-day mediation (charged equally among the parties)
$2,240 for a full-day mediation (charged equally among the parties)
These fees only partially compensate us for the loss of time reserved and the administrative expenses incurred with the scheduling. We do not determine who is responsible for cancellations within the 15-day grace period. Only if all parties agree will we invoice the charges for all sides to the party responsible for the cancellation.
Payments and Advance Deposits
Payment for Mediation fees must be received by Griffin Mediation within 15 days of counsel or a party’s receipt of billing for the Mediation services.
The attorneys representing parties in the matter, or their law firm if the attorney practices in a firm, are responsible to insure that Griffin Mediation is paid in a timely fashion. If payment is not received, the attorney or law firm will be personally responsible for said fees, including any cancellation fees.
We typically email invoices upon the conclusion of the Mediation Conference. However, in cases where Griffin Mediation, in its sole discretion, believes it to be necessary, an advance deposit may be required from a party or its counsel. Failure to pay any required advance deposit by the deadline will result in cancellation of the Mediation Conference.
